Gateway Projections exists because I was confused by my personal finances. This is a bit embarrassing to admit, given that I studied economics, but it’s true. The numbers in my accounts didn’t tell me much about what I was on track to do, and the tools I had to figure that out felt convoluted and unnavigable. I needed a way to make these numbers feel simple, straightforward and easy to understand. So I built something.

That something was the first version of The Investment Growth Simulator, Gateway Projections’ original product. Simple in design, I just inputted a few investment basics, and it projected my savings by retirement. I found myself using it constantly. For the first time, I actually understood the importance of how much I was putting away today. For the first time, I actually cared about putting away more. I quickly realized it would be nice to have it the other way around too, starting with a future goal and being told how much to save in the present. So I built The Required Investment Calculator, and setting my personal investment goals became easier than ever. 

Then came my real moment of clarity. These may have been made for personal finance, but they were data science tools, and I knew their perfect complement. I’ve worked in data science for nearly a decade, and the industry itself is also unnavigable. Truthfully, we data scientists are often to blame, too cautious to put tools in the hands of others. I wanted to change that, so I built something else: The Machine Learner. 

The Machine Learner is a leading artificially intelligent data scientist and a tool for everyone regardless of industry. It can simplify and enhance your workflow whether you’re a finance professional, a marketer, or someone working with sales or inventory data. What’s more, unlike current offerings, it is designed with actual users in mind. By simply uploading a csv and selecting columns of interest, you can have all the predictions, projections and crucial insights that used to require an entire data science team. It can predict sales trends, optimize marketing strategies or even forecast inventory needs without your having to write a line of code. Easy to navigate, easy to use and easy to understand, it harnesses the power of machine learning to actually empower decision makers. 

Now I’m building these products into something I can share. That something is Gateway Projections. The Projection Suite empowers anyone thinking about growth to see and understand how they are tracking better than ever. Whether you're a financial advisor helping clients meet retirement goals or a business owner wanting to optimize your company's trajectory, this tool simplifies complex concepts and aids in strategic decision-making. The Machine Learner hands the power of machine learning to anyone, without the headache of traditional model-building. It doesn’t require a PhD in data science or finance, just the desire to make smarter, more informed choices faster.

My hope is that by putting these products in the hands of other professionals, I can contribute to the industry at large. This contribution is humble in scale. I neither plan on disrupting all of finance nor replacing all of data and analytics. Rather, I just want to make it a little bit easier for my clients to do their jobs. Many people find these topics abstract and confusing. My products will allow you to make them more concrete and straightforward. It is important that people understand how data should inform their decisions, but too often these feel like two separate worlds. My products are a gateway between these worlds.

For now it’s just me, and I handle everything from product architecture to customer support. As the business grows, though, I look forward to bringing on talented people who share the same core principles. These are a passion for learning and creation, a sense of community and a belief that all technical subjects are fundamentally explainable. Together, we will build towards Gateway Projections’ central mission – to make data science simple.
